One of the challenges I had when converting to eating more whole and live/raw foods was how to work it into my life. I am not a big fan of time consuming prep work, so we devised a system where we could shop once a week and cook daily with fewer hassles. Using this method, we can whip up a salad or have greens for a sandwich or a saute in no time at all. It’s also super handy if you use a juicer–no prep whatsoever!
All we do is shop for all our food on the weekend and then wash the greens, fruit and veggies (it takes about an hour). We use FOOD GRADE hydrogen peroxide, which we’ve found will remove dirt, kill any stray microorganisms, and helps with preserving tender greens MUCH longer so they’ll last the whole week (and you won’t believe how long your berries will last in the fridge!). I’ve posted some pictures of the whole operation. Here’s to successful farmer’s market runs in your near future!
