I cook nearly every day, but I only shop once a week, and one of the things I’ve learned is that when you have a lot of food around, things tend to go bad, especially when you eat as many greens as we do around here.
We’ve solved some of those problems by making a solid grocery list from a menu we plan on a weekly basis. It makes a huge difference when you want to make dinner, and all the necessaries are present and accounted for!
My bonus tip for you today is that we also do a produce wash every week upon returning from the store where everything gets a soak in water and a generous squirt of 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide (not drug store, there are heavy metal preservatives). This way, everything is conveniently washed for the week, and we find that food seems to stay fresh longer than washing with other expensive produce washes or leaving it unwashed. It ends up being a real time saver too, since all my produce is ready to cook or juice without extra hassle on a weekday.
